“Future Funk” featuring:
Hairy Apes BMX
W/ Motion Potion
The San Francisco Funk Festival presents a night of Future Funk, honoring the artists who have continually striven to move the funk in new directions. From LA producers re-imagined funk with synthesizers and created “electro” to Chicago where producers merged funk with drum machines to create “house” to San Francisco where Primus merged funk with punk and created… well “punk funk.” Because funk is such a malleable format, perhaps as much a “feel” as a “genre” artists have continually reformed it into new sounds and ideas. “Future Funk” night presents two entities (Hairy Apes BMX and Motion Potion) that are steeped in funk traditions, but are not beholden to them. Come down and get your groove on with “some next shit.” |
